Back Roads to Meliora

In June of 2000 I started doing freelance work for the Robert Bergelin Co.in Morganton, NC.
They were a small, very high-end furniture manufacturer.

In 2004 we agreed to set up my shop in the factory, where, in addition to continuing my
own work, I also did samples, custom orders & turnings for the Bergelins

Here, I was challenged to build a much greater diversity of furniture styles than I was accustomed;
& do it in a factory setting, which was, as well, quite new to me.
For 5 years I worked in this dusty spot, bettering my skills - building on to what I had brought with me.

Once again, Meliora on a back road.

Robert Bergelin Co. - 2005

In June of 2009 the Bergelins were forced to close their doors. In August of 2009 I approached them
about trying to continue on a much smaller scale. In January of 2010 I completed the
first order - so it isn't over yet - & yet another back road.
