Around 1908 in a grove of large oaks,
Wyant began building what was to be his home in Vale. By the time he was finished in 1912, Robert had married. His new bride, however, would not live here. It was too far from her home in Daniels, over in Lincoln Co. - some 10 or 12 miles away. |

Robert passed his new home on
to his parents while he pulled up stakes & moved everything - shop included - to Daniels in northwestern Lincoln County. Today there isn't much left of his shop, but there is still an old sawmill around back. John Wyant, one of Robert's great nephews, lives around the corner from me on Lynn Mtn. Road. - he too runs a small mill. |

John would probably tell you he
is land poor, & that he doesn't have enough land, all in the same breath. But, I will tell you that from his land comes the prettiest, redest Catawba Valley Cherry I know of. |
A portion of John Wyant's land - 'Wyant Park' I call it.

It is off these Wyant
grounds that I harvest my local cherry for building my furniture. |
